Culture & Heritage
Art and architecture can activate public spaces and influence how we encounter and understand our world. We have an opportunity--as a culture, as a university--to confront past failures: missed opportunities to recognize and represent our shared heritage, on a monumental scale.
We’re generating new approaches to recognizing our shared cultural heritage--not only by preserving the past. The University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design is leading approaches into how historic sites are interpreted, while also producing innovative research that serves as a gauge of how we can protect built environments from climate change.
We can provide new contexts and commentary on our lives--look for new ways to interpret history--to reckon with how it is “made”--and inform how we can move forward together.
