BIPOC Alumni Career Conversation Series (BACCS): Addressing DEI Issues in the Workplace and the Job Search Process
Faculty, students, and staff at the Weitzman School of Design have been increasingly focused on the impact of race and systemic racism on the design community, and the need to increase BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) representation in the design professions.
As part of our effort to increase the diversity of the professions we help sustain, the Office of Professional Development will host a BIPOC Alumni Career Conversation Series (BACCS) to provide a safe forum for current students who identify as BIPOC to network with BIPOC alumni, ask career questions, and learn from others’ experiences.
Our first discussion in the series is “Addressing DEI Issues in the Workplace and the Job Search Process”. This is an informal, one hour discussion on Zoom. We will leave time at the end for students that might have questions. Our BIPOC alumni moderators for this discussion are:
- Mayva Donnon (MArch’04), Partner, KSS Architects LLP
- Jay Grant (MCP’07), Deputy Director of Community Development, Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development
Please contact Kali Meeks for the Zoom link.
