Penn Weitzman Alumni Association Announces New Board President and Vice-President

The Penn Weitzman Alumni Association announces new board president and vice-president. Since the fall of 2018, Ryan Lohbauer (March’07) and Jill Sablosky (MFA’79) have held the roles, respectively, of president and vice-president of the Alumni Association. Two current members of the board have stepped up to take over these roles. Charlette Caldwell (MSHP’16) will be the new president and Suzanne Mahoney (MCP’14, MLA’14) will be the new vice-president.

“Charlette and Suzanne have served many years on the board and have both made great contributions in service of our mission,” says Ryan Lohbauer, previous board president. “They are bringing their energy and dedication to board leadership at a time where we are having to respond to new challenges that require creative thinking about how we operate as a volunteer organization.”

Charlette Caldwell (MSHP’16) is a PhD student and Provost Diversity Fellow currently studying the history and theory of architecture at Columbia University. Her research focuses on nineteenth-century American architecture and vernacular architecture. She received a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and continues to work part time in Philadelphia on various preservation projects.

Suzanne Mahoney (MCP’14, MLA’14) AIA, LEED Project Architect, uses her background in landscape architecture and urban planning to work across disciplines and scales as a project architect at KieranTimberlake. She has a variety of experience on the firm’s diverse projects and research, from master planning that can account for an unpredictable future, to creating homes that are intimate and environmentally sensitive. Among the projects she has worked on is the East End Transformation of the Danforth Campus at Washington University in St. Louis. This project included five new buildings to house admissions, administrative offices, art studios, dining, and an art gallery, as well as the replacement of a surface parking lot with an underground structure. The project was awarded an Excellence in Planning Honor for 2020 from the Society for College and University Planning. Since 2016, Mahoney has served on the Penn Weitzman Alumni Association where she has reviews student portfolio work and organizes annual events. She received her undergraduate degree from Temple University, and a Master of City Planning and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

The Penn Weitzman Alumni Association (PWAA) is here to be a professional, creative, and social resource to the Weitzman alumni community of over 11,000 members. The PWAA aims to support and strengthen the School by increasing communication amongst graduates from all departments and their friends, by offering counsel to its leadership, by assisting with fundraising on its behalf, and by connecting alumni from its various departments with the professional disciplines which its graduates profess.
